Andrew Green
Proprietor
Best known for his role as prominent San Francisco wine and spirits director, Andrew Green has added another position to his resume - proprietor of ROAST Coffee Company, a collaboration with local master roaster Alex Roberts.
While in the past his interest in coffee was overshadowed by his career in wine and spirits, he concedes that he has an interest in all things beverage and has been cultivating a love of coffee since childhood. He credits this to his father. In an attempt to find high quality coffee locally, Green accompanied his father on a trip to downtown Minneapolis where they discovered a coffee and tea shop that has remained in his memory to this day. The dark wood paneled shop was small and intimate with various aromas and a chest-high layer of smoke from a small vintage Probat roaster.
With over thirteen years in the wine industry, Green brings a seasoned palate and sense of smell necessary to truly understand coffee. His wine education overlaps nicely with coffee, making him uniquely suited for the position. Much like wine, ROAST’s coffee emphasizes the place of origin and Green’s coffee menu reads like a wine by the glass menu, showcasing each individual brew and the origin of the beans. Green chose the sommelier path because he enjoyed the service side of wine and his role in ROAST can be seen along those same lines.
